Behind Mount Kiwi

With roots sprouting from New Zealand’s agricultural zone, Claudine’s intrepid spirit propelled her forward into the world of wool. There she and her sister Nikki founded Mount Kiwi, and she’s been making fair trade, pure NZ wool clothing for adventurers ever since.

Currently the “Fast Fashion” industry seems to favour big business profits above supplying quality products for consumers. Claudine is a staunch advocate for a return to “Slow Fashion” practices and supports the creation of affordable, hard-wearing clothing that lasts - to deliver the best value over time.

Like her sister, Nikki grew up around rural New Zealand farming and New Zealand wool production. She discovered a love for travel, particularly visiting international communities and connecting with people. Soon after Nikki began to imagine a world where the affordable, high-quality wool clothing she grew up with would be part of every home.

Fast forward, and she’s making that dream a reality. As the lead designer and inventory manager at Mount Kiwi, Nikki is delivering quality apparel designed to look great and last season after season.

Kathmandu born and bred, Rita is not only a long time friend, she’s also Mount Kiwi’s integral right-hand ally in Nepal. With over fifteen years experience in wool clothing production, Rita manages operations with expert knowledge and a perfectionist’s eye.

Working closely with a team of professional knitters and traditional weavers, she oversees product design, manufacturing, detailing and finishing. Thanks to Rita’s dedication to quality, every Mount Kiwi jersey meets our high production standards while remaining unique and lovingly crafted by hand.
